Evaluaion

During our task we not only had to include the required shots but also make them visible and easily noticeable to the viewers. The use of these shot have expanded my knowledge and understanding of them.

Advantages
The main advantage of the piece is how we have integrated the required shots into the piece and how they fit into what the video is about. Our feedback shows that we used these shots well and also shows that we made them noticeable and easily understandable to the viewers.

Another advantage is how we included the idea of comedy into the video. We came up with this idea because we thought it would surprise the viewers as many of our classmates opted for the cliche of dark and dramatic whereas we went for the exact opposite. It shows that we did it well due to the viewers expressing that they found it more enjoyable with a comedic twist.

Disadvantages
The main disadvantage which is highly noticeable is that we failed to include the match on action. This is due to the fact that we experienced issues during the process of uploading the footage to Final Cut Pro. Unfortunately it resulted with the loss of the match on action footage. We would have re-shot the shot but we were left with limited time so decided to spend it on editing.

Another disadvantage is that the music in the background seems out of sync and does not match what is happening in the seen. This is because like the previous disadvantage we were short of time so had to find music urgently. Us in the group feel that we could have synced the music up better and will try to improve this in the Main Task.

Skills Gained
I have gained many skills during the preliminary task; the main one being that i have developed massively my understanding of media cinematography and have also developed my skills in filming and editing  to a large extent. This will help me greatly in my main task and overall in the entirety of Media Studies.

Skills Needed
In future I need to practice and work on my time keeping skills in order to create the best product possible. This is shown through the missing match on action and the confusing and poorly timed music.

Changes
If I were to repeat the task, I would make sure that we knew more about how to export and share the footage so that we would not loose any footage. Plus, I would modify the music so that it would match the scene more.

Audience Feedback

We gathered feedback from classmates Aaron, Madi and Robyn who watched the final piece and shared their thoughts with us.

Filming and Editing Updates

Filming - In the three shot/reverse shots we had the actors chewing gum as we thought this generate humor for the viewers. We also chose to shoot a slanted angle in one shot while we were filming as when the characters see each other it will create tension.

Editing - We chose to not include sound effects as we had a limited amount of time and we cut them for essential editing aspects.

Decisions

Location: We chose to use our initial idea of using a classroom for the location as it was easily accessible, had a door, two chairs ans saved time.

Actors: We chose Tristan and Adam to act in the piece as Tristan has done acting in GCSE Media and does A-Level Drama and Adam because he has also acted in GCSE Media.

Sound: We decided not to change our initial idea of action music as we thought it was fitting.
